Taking photographs at corporate, sporting and political events is something I have had a keen interest in for some time. So I started by taking photographs of a sporting event at an 'Airsoft' match - a realistic military simulation game where players shoot each other with small projectiles called 'BBs' whilst trying to complete certain objectives. The event took place in an old and abandoned shopping mall, so lighting was very poor, meaning I had to resort to my external flash system. Airsoft isn't a massive sporting event (yet there is controversy whether or not it is a sport). It is not the most known either, compared to a similar strategic simulation game called Paintball. However this was a start for me in capturing fast-paced action, where young and old ordinary people come together to... well shoot each other. This wasn't a paid job. I was fairly new to taking photographs at any sort of event, so I was not particularly fussed about getting paid. At the end of the day, I asked if I could take photos here and the owners agreed... As long as I didn't get in the way of course. The main goal here was to capture some action images and to get to know my way around a camera when shooting at these types of events. I also managed to capture some humourous photos where players would... You'll see what I mean in the last photo. So, here are just a few images I took during my time in the abandoned mall.
