Every year, St Andrews Youth Club (the oldest youth club in the UK) host an awards ceremony giving the young adolescents a chance to win something back from their experience at the club. The awards can be won through sporting events such as table tennis and pool to cookery classes and being the best 'member' of the year. So I was hired by the manager of the club, to take photographs of the winners collecting their trophies. Of course there were a few obstacles when photographing this event. Firstly the lighting did not help. The hall where the ceremony took place was dimly lit, meaning I had to bump up the ISO to around 800 and decrease my shutter speed a small touch. This meant the images lost quite some detail. However it wasn't too bad due to my trusty external flash which had to be put to the brightest setting to compensate for that. Secondly some of the youngsters who won, would sometimes go to the wrong place to collect their award, and at times forget I was the photographer, and would not know where to look, which was hilarious. But all-in-all, it was a great experience to photograph this award ceremony and get paid whilst doing so. As a result here are some of the images I took for the club.
